What stories do you prefer to read and why?

The type of stories we enjoy tend to fall into two categories: those that give us a different view of the world we already inhabit, and those that let us escape into fantastic worlds we can only hope to reach in our dreams. Some would call this the difference between “realistic” and “escapist” fiction. Stories vary along other lines, too. They can be action-based, all about what’s happening; they can focus on action that arises from character development; or they can be all about character and ideas, and not so much about what happens at all.

Though I’d like to assume I know which of these sorts of stories my readers enjoy best, I’d like for you to let me know via the two following quick questions. Do share any additional thoughts you may have on the subject in the comments field. Looking forward to what you have to say!
